I am a Dutch ecologist based at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. I am currently part-way through completing my PhD studying social learning in archerfish Toxotes spp. Previously, I have completed an MSc (Res) on the dispersal of Acer and Fraxinus samaras, also at the University of St Andrews, and a BSc (Hons) in Biology (Ecology) at the University of Edinburgh, where my dissertation project focused on the reasons for intraspecific variation in nest height in blue tits Cyanistes caeruleus.

Apart from research, I enjoy writing stories and poetry, and I am currently planning a detective novel set in a fictionalized version of my department in St Andrews. I also enjoy listening to podcasts, especially My Favorite Murder, Wine and Crime, and Behind the Bastards, baking, and taking long walks along the Fife Coastal Path with my binoculars. I am also learning to scuba dive, embroider, and sew.
